犬猝死症患病犬发病急，死亡快，多在死前1h狂燥不安，嚎叫，四处撞壁，转圈运动，口吐白沫，呼吸急促，发抖抽搐，卧地不起，不时呻吟，四肢划动，角弓反张，很快昏迷而死。病程长者可拖延数小时而抗原抗体。

由于卡介苗的生物活性物质是一种减毒的活细菌，接种后，可出现由于卡介菌生物活性引起的相应反应，绝大多数被接种者可于2周左右在注射局部出现红肿、丘疹样浸润硬块，以后逐渐软化成白色脓疱，并可自行破溃形成溃疡，8-12周后愈合结痂，痂脱落后局部形成即卡疤。幽门螺杆菌（Helicobacter pylori，Hp）是一种专性微需氧菌。它的稳定生长需要依靠在生长的微环境中含2-8%的O2。因此，它在大气中和厌氧条件下均不能生长。从临床标本中分离野生株都必需补充适量的CO2。
许多固体培养基能用作分离培养幽门螺杆菌的基础培养基。例如：脑心浸液琼脂、哥伦比亚琼脂、布氏琼脂和M-H琼脂等。但必需加入适量的全血（马、羊或人）或胎牛血清作为补充物。加入适量的活性炭（0.2%）或淀粉（1%）亦有利于吸收培养基中衍化产生的毒性氧离子。
