This 5x7 module combines all the functionality enabled by Ciena’s state-of-the-art coherent DSP ASIC development and best-in-class electro-optics to deliver an industry-leading solution for high-bandwidth, high-performance, flexible multi-haul transmission for both telecom and data center applications. The module supports operation at 56.8 GBaud—the highest symbol rate available in the industry today—enabling unprecedented system performance and spectral efficiency: 200 Gb/s channels for long-haul (>3,000 km) applications, 300 Gb/s for regional (1,000 km) distances, and 400 Gb/s for reaches of several hundred kilometers. WaveLogic Ai can also operate in submarine applications, transporting 200 Gb/s channels across >12,000 km unregenerated distances in new cable systems. Systems integrators and equipment manufacturers can flexibly deploy the module in transponder, OTN-switched, packet-switched, or router interfaces to take advantage of WaveLogic Ai’s industry-leading spectral efficiency benefits across a wide range of platforms. Line interworking across all WaveLogic Ai-based transceivers—including interworking with Ciena systems—reduces the number of platforms that need to be deployed in the network. With the WaveLogic Ai 5x7 module, network operators can better scale to meet capacity growth, transport more capacity using fewer transceivers, and significantly drive down costs in their networks.
