酶联免疫技术在科学实验的应用：
1）酶联免疫组织化学技术用于组织细胞上抗原、抗体成分的定位。
2 测定法用来检测液体中可溶性的抗原、抗体成分。
3）酶联免疫技术中的竞争法是测定小分子抗原的方法。尤其适用于食品卫生分析。食品卫生分析中所需测定的物质大都是低分子质量的，但免疫动物产生抗体的抗原其相对分子质量要求必须很大(至少50 000)，因此，首先必须将小分子物质结合上高分子蛋白质，才能作免疫之用，而为了能使小分子物质结合上高分子蛋白质，则必须在小分子物质上导人一个活性基团，同时直接竞争法所需的酶标抗原的制备也需首先在小分子物质上导人一个活性基团。
由于该化学修饰反应有一定的技术难度，有关专家就采用了间接竞争法来改进测定步骤，用酶标抗体代替了酶标抗原，因为酶标抗体的制备技术相对比较成熟，并有现成的商品，然而这却使整个实验操作过程不如直接竞争法那么简便快捷。
竞争酶联免疫吸附分析法有特异性强、干扰小、样品的预处理简便、快速、高效的特点，并且对设备装置的投资较少。
定性测定结果判定中常用的一些缩写：
(1)S／CO：其中S为sample(样本)或specimen(标本)的简写，表示的是标本测定的吸光度值，CO为cut-off值的简写。除竞争抑制法外，其他ELISA定性测定模式中，当S／CO值大于或等于1时，标本的测定为阳性，小于1时为阴性。
(2)S／N或P／N：其中S同(1)，N为negative(阴性对照)的简写，P为patient(患者)的简写。较早的试剂盒很多都使用S／N或P／N≥2．1为阳性判定标准，现仍有一些试剂盒使用这种方式。这种方式与S／CO方式无根本性区别，只不过是前者将阴性对照(N)的2．1倍视为cut-off值而已。
