SIMATICS7-400 PNH系统可以根据具体应用需求量身定制：性能可扩展、冗余度可灵活组态，安全功能易于集成。集成PROFINET接口，可冗余连接I/O设备，或者通过PROFIBUS连接I/O设备，实现工厂通信。无论何种应用，使用SIMATIC S7-400 PNH，均可在熟悉的STEP7 工程环境中，进行便捷而有效的编程和组态。

避免控制器故障引起的停机。主要用于生产、能源、供水系统、机场助航照明、编组站系统等域。避免因工厂故障造成数据丢失而导致的高昂重启成本。主要用于行李处理、高架仓库、跟踪和追溯等域。在工厂或机器停机时保护工厂、工件和材料。主要用于炉子、半导体、船舶等域。无监督和维修人员亦能保障正常运行。主要用于污水处理厂、隧道、船闸、楼宇系统等域。

简单、高效的工程组态与在标准系统中一样，SIMATIC S7-400H 可以使用所有 STEP 7 编程语言进行编程。可以很容易的把程序从标准系统迁移到冗余系统中，反之亦然。当加载程序时，它会自动传送到两个冗余控制器中。使用 STEP 7，可以对特定冗余功能和配置进行参数设置。
4.出色的诊断和更换优势
利用集成的自我诊断功能，系统可以提前检测故障和发送信号，避免故障对生产过程产生影响。这样可以有针对性地替换故障组件，加快维修进程。可以在系统运行过程中对所有组件进行热插拔。更换一个 CPU 后，当前的所有程序和数据可以自动重新装载。即使在系统运行过程中，也可以修改程序（例如，程序块的修改和重新装载），更改配置（例如，增加或删减 DP从站或）以及改变 CPU 的内存分配。
