为什么雌蚊要吸血呢？原来，交尾后的雌蚊，若不吸血，卵是不能发育成熟的。雌蚊在交尾后，每吸一次血，就飞到水面上产一次卵。经过数次产卵，雌蚊便会Panbio登革热。也有的雌蚊可在室内越冬。雄蚊的营养一般来自花蜜、植物汁液和露水等，它们的寿命很短，一般只有6～7天。大多数雄蚊在与雌蚊交尾后，很快就会Panbio登革热。
