阻旋料位开关的工作原理是利用永磁电机带动叶片旋转，当被检测物料上升至叶片位置时，叶片转动受阻，将该阻力传至接线盒内的检测装置，检测装置则向外输出一个开关信号，并切断电源使叶片停止转动。
当料位下降时，叶片阻力消失，检测装置便依靠弹簧的拉力恢复到原始状态，针对不同的物料比重调整弹簧拉力，比重大时调整弹簧拉力到强或zui强，反之则调整至弱或zui弱。
采用摆动式传动系统。电机底座通过弹簧拉住，当系统没有受阻时，电机转动，带动检测叶片，检测物料。检测板受阻时，使主轴受阻而静止，电机继续运行，使电机底座拉动弹簧，压下微动开关，发出有料信号，同时切断电机电源，电机停止工作。当物位下降时检板阻力消失，系统在弹簧的拉力下复位，微动开关恢复原始状态，使电机转动，同时发出无料信号。
